Apart from the Operating System, most software we use is called Application Software, or “Apps” for short.

What are Apps?

Apps are programs designed to help you do a specific task.

• Productivity Software: Tools like Word (for writing) or Excel (for numbers).
• Creative Software: Programs for drawing, editing photos, or making music.
• Communication Software: Apps for sending emails or video calling friends.
• Education Software: Programs that help you learn new things, like this course!

System Software vs. Application Software

• System Software (like the OS) runs the computer itself.
• Application Software helps you do work or play.
